I didn’t had to wait long to be enlisted into National Service upon graduating. While I was still a student, I honestly worked really hard. Each day, I’d leave the campus at 9PM. I spend up to 12 hours a day in school during my final year. I was honestly pushing myself to graduate with a merit and hoping that I can get a place in a local university. My hard work did paid off. I graduated with a merit and I’m accepted into Nanyang Technological University to complete my Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science with Business Minor. Of course I was beyond ecstatic.

I was on a roll, I was ready to conquer the next challenge in my education life. I was hungry for more knowledge. My hands were itching to code more applications. As crazy as it sounds, I was actually very excited to start university life. To this day, I am still very interested to start university and be a student again.

But no, I had to be enlisted into National Service. Currently right now, I’m a hospital medic. I went through 5 weeks of cramming my tiny brain with medical terms and procedures. Honestly, at one point of time I was thinking to myself, what the hell is this all about? I graduated with a Diploma in Information Technology WITH a Merit and now I’m studying all this medical terms. Seriously, what the hell? It was totally irrelevant to my area of specialization.

Right now, I feel that what I’ve been learning for three years in polytechnic is slowly slipping away. I’d imagine that by the time I start university, I’ll probably forget all the basics of computing. Looks like my efforts are in vain.

My point is that, I wish MINDEF would properly utilize “us” and post us to proper vocation based on what we are good in. Wouldn’t that be better?

Well, all I can do right now is just wish harder and suck my thumb. Life is never fair to begin with.

It makes reading so much easier. I’m an avid reader and this device is definitely a worthy purchase. I barely have any more space to store all my books.

Yes I know, an alternative is to borrow books from the library as oppose to buying books. But I’ve never fancy that idea. Just imagine, how many people actually touched that book? It’s probably inhibited with a billion kinds of bacteria.

Besides, who has the time to drop by the library so often. And also, am I the only one who feels pressurized when I’m suppose to read a book before a specific date?

Oh kindle, you are a great device.

Annoying music booming through the roof, endless wishing of each other a happy new year and the overhype countdown.

It will be absolutely hilarious if scientist can actually find real evidence that 2012 marks the end of the world and when 31st December 2011 arrive, will everyone still wish each other a happy new year?

In any case, I’m still not looking forward to a brand new year even after all these years. Well they say, habits are hard to break. I’d rather relive 2010. It’s not a bad year after all.

Yes I know that I have not been blogging. I’m not even bothered to explain why.

Looking at 2010, I do feel a little unsettled. I don’t think I did managed to accomplished a lot of things in this year. However, there are certain highlights in 2010 that is awesome.

One of it is that I am finally in my third and final year in Temasek Polytechnic, it has been quite a feat all these while. Being in third year, our two main modules were the final year project and the internship.

The final year project was a huge challenge for me to say the least. I have never in my life worked so hard and pushed myself so hard in school. However, I’m still halfhearted about it. If I had a chance to redo my entire final year project, I would definitely take that opportunity. I’ll talk about it some other time. In general, I wish my final year project was more ‘cool’ and futuristic.

Upon completing the final year project, the students were exiled to various company across Singapore and the world. I chose to stay in Singapore for my internship. I am currently being employed in A*STAR or also known as Agency for Science, Technology and Research. It’s been rather interesting. My internship ends somewhere in February.

That’s about it. I’m lazy to write.

Yes, it’s a horrible sight indeed. He was just lying there, his eyes were empty, staring into the space. There was no reaction even though I was waving my hand frantically in front of him. At least his ears was twitching when I made some noises. He was also breathing erratically, it was as if he was short of breath, somewhat exhibiting shallow breathing. And as you can see, his tongue was sticking out. Time to time, he would miss a breath and that really made my heart stop, I kept think that it was time for him to go already.

We sent him to the vet on 26th January 2010. Doctor called yesterday to tell us that he’s gone.

Well.. yeah.

I’m sure he had a lovely 12 years in this house with abundant food. On Tuesday, I padded him and ask for forgiveness for any miserable I have ever caused in his life.

Yes that’s me and the cat! God knows how old I was.

In any case, death is inevitable. Everything ends eventually. The question is when?

I’m typing in this entry with heavy eyes. The reason being that I have not slept since yesterday! I’ve been working hard on my school assignment.

The past week has been a very tough week. We basically had two PBL subjects. If you don’t know what is PBL, let me give you a brief walkthrough.

PBL stands for problem-based learning. A PBL subject basically is about solving problems, real life problems humans like you and me encounter. PBL subjects are not like our typical subjects we’ve been taught in secondary school. In a PBL class, we are given a problem and then we would have to research on the internet or library to find a solution. There’s no usual spoon feeding from teachers.

Imagine having 2 PBL assignments due within the same week and they are only a day apart. The thing about PBL is that it requires a lot of time and individual researching and self study.

I’ll just get straight to the point. We pretty much did quite well for our first PBL assignment on Monday which was a subject called Business Integrated Technologies.  A second PBL assignment for Distributed Systems and Connectivity is due on Wednesday.

Mind you it is a programming subject. It’s not easy. We were too focused on Business Integrated Technologies to the point that we didn’t have enough time for Distributed Systems and Connectivity.

My groups and I finished our presentation and in my opinion, it went horrible. Basically we are suppose to design an application based on distributed systems.

I didn’t have time to complete my application and most of the functions are not working. Thus, I was standing infront of the class and talking like a fool without sleep and groggy.

My teacher asked whether if she gave us another day, will I be able to complete it?

That question seems to signify that I did not manage to complete to even hit the passing criteria and she’s considering giving me a second chance.

I shall not continue my blabber about how it’s tough for polytechnic students to enter into local university.

All I’m saying is that I’m upset.

I smiled genuinely for the first time in months. That made me happy.

The internet! It’s heavenly. I can check last minute announcement on our school’s website! Moreover, there’s TAB browsing, you know when you’re in firefox, you can open several pages at one time. Now, how many phones can actually do tab browsing?

The next app is probably one of my favorites. It’s called Shazam.

Let’s say you were listening to this music on the radio and you really like it but you have no idea who is the artiste or what’s the name of the song! Fret not, this is where Shazam comes in.

How many of you are actually happy in the course that you’re in? Did you get to choose what you wanted to study?

I’m in Information Technology. It’s about programming. You write codes and make programs on computer work. After I got my O Level results, I didn’t have much choice what I wanted to study. I wanted to apply to Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts but my parents didn’t allow. I wanted to study Aerospace Technology at Singapore Polytechnic but my score wasn’t good enough. I needed to minus of another 3 more points.

My mum told me, the business, information technology and the engineering sector are the strongest. As in the demand for people is always there. I’m sure everyone wants to be employed once they are graduated from school.

I think my future is screwed. I don’t wanna drag  myself out of bed each morning to work as a computer engineer. Truthfully, I don’t even like studying information technology. But I do not have a choice.  This might sound mean but I’m sure the best interest is captured at her heart. My mum only allowed me to choose courses from Business, Information Technology and Engineering while I was applying for polytechnic. It’s because, as I’ve mentioned above, the demand is strong.

At that point of time, I was still 16, I was naive, I knew nothing about Business. I was like, “Well, I’m not going for Business, I don’t wanna sell things. I’m not going for Engineering either. Pure Physics in high school was terrible!” I was then left with information technology. So here I am today. A student in Temasek Polytechnic taking Information Technology.

I took Sociology and a Psychology elective in Temasek Polytechnic. I love it a lot. It really inspired me to be a Psychologist or a Sociologist. But I do like Sociology more than Psychology. I’ve checked with National University of Singapore that any students from any diploma can enter into their Psychology or Sociology course.

I don’t like studying in Information Technology. I do not know what to become in the future. I don’t know what I want to work as. Even though I like Sociology, what jobs are waiting for me when I graduate? I want to be a virologist too but at this point of time, it’s too late. I should have taken Biology in high school.

I do know that I don’t want to work a 9am to 5pm job in front of the computer everyday.

My mum told said that I can study whatever I wanna study after I have completed my diploma in Information Technology. The reason being is that, let’s say I’m studying psychology and I can’t find a job well at least I have a diploma in Information Technology and I can find a job in the IT area. Look at the world today people. Open your eyes bigger, even though I really can’t since I’m Asian. You get measly pay with a diploma. I’m not gonna use that as my backup plan in case the current sector I’m in was hit badly with retrenchment! I wanna go for at least a degree.

I’m 18 now, 2nd year in polytechnic. I’ll be completing my diploma when I’m about 20. 2 years of NS, I’ll be 22. 4 years in University, I’ll be 26. That marks the end of my backup plan.  I wanna work as a psychology that means another 4 years in university to get my psychology degree. I’ll be 30 by then. I’m sure everyone wants to go for a PhD. I think it’s about 7 years. I’ll be 37 when I’m done with my education.

I had four hours of sleep on the night before. I stayed up till 2AM to revise my work. Everything seems to pay off.

I’ll be getting my certificate in a few weeks time.

Many of us pass, some forgo their sleep and continued working on revising their work, coming to school with puffy and bloodshot red eyes.

For the past 2 weeks or so, I’ve been attending school 9AM to 5PM everyday single day to attend class. Imagine how tough it is to actually sit in class from 9AM to 5PM listening to lectures and taking down notes. They are practical sessions but trust me, the practical sessions are not very enjoyable.

The exam was today, Friday October 2nd 2009. We finished the last topic on Tuesday in the same week. We’re left with 2 days to revise all those topics.

I’m talking about the Everyday Minerals Baby Kabuki brush! There are minor differences that are dead on but it worked flawlessly for me.

I believed I watch Fafinettex3′s video on youtube and she said that, the MAC 109 is basically a mini kabuki on a stick.

It has that basic shape the 109 is infamous for. It’s like a dome shape and flat on the toppest middle part. The resemblance is strong ey?

I tried with my BB Creams.

It worked perfectly with the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream(Red tube) because the consistency of that cream isn’t so thick and I managed to buff ever so lightly onto my skin and produce wonderful results! However, the silver tube, the cream was very thick and I had a hard time trying to blend it all out.

This brush is my current favorite using with my BB cream. BB Cream are essentially like tinted moisturizer perhaps more thicker. I guess if it works for BB Cream, it shouldn’t have a problem working with liquid foundation though I have yet to try.

Yes, the bristles are longer compared to the actual MAC 109. The other major difference is of course the length of that wooden stick. But seriously for just 9SGD, the price is amazing. As we all know, Everyday Minerals brushes are super soft, I’m not kidding. Look what happened to Kamelia when I convinced her to buy one! (I did right?) The bristles are insanely soft yet there is enough bristles to make the brush firm and it doesn’t give way when applying pressure.

Sadly, it has been discontinued by Everyday Minerals. I’m sure you can find it on eBay or by doing makeup swaps on Makeupalley or something.
