Piracy Sucks

30/08/2008

This is why you shouldn’t support piracy.

THE QUALITY SUCKS.

I’m sort of an audiophile i guess.

If only iTunes Store Singapore includes the music AND supports paypal. I’ll definitely buy high quality music from them.

For your information, NOKIA MUSIC STORE Sucks too. I still got $8 credit with them though. All of their music are in WMA format. We are even required to use Internet Explorer to enter into their music store. Not Mac-Friendly at all! With WMA format, The only player that is able to play WMA is Windows Media Player. And they expect Mac OS X Users, like me, to download that piece of crap software to listen to music?

This is why you should bother paying a little more for your stuff.

Cosmetic Surgery – Dawn yang

29/08/2008

As you know, there have been rumors going around that Dawn Yang had cosmetic surgery.

First of all let’s clear up the misconception, plastic surgery specializes in fixing up your body to make it look normal and giving back the usefulness. For an instance, me, a wildly mentally unsound psychotic person decided to use a sharp kitchen knife and scrap your entire face out.

You are horribly disfigured. Wait What? You’re not? *Continue to disfigure harshly!*

So you’ll go for plastic surgery to repair the damage and look normal.

Whilst cosmetic surgery is the enhancement of appearance through surgical and medical procedures. Rhinoplasty, Blepharoplasty, Abdominoplasty and so on.

Every now and then I’d hear a fellow student rambling about Dawn Yang and her cosmetic surgery affairs.

I simply don’t understand. Why do we have people hating her for going under the knife? Why do we have people hating her for speaking in an american accent or whatever accent that might be? Why do we have mentally disordered people who start a blog, Dawn Wayang and many more.

It’s her life. She is entitled to do whatever she desires. No, I’m not saying that she DID went under the knife. Those attention whore haters are pathetic, apparently having too much free time, envious that she’s a really that quite gorgeous/have the money to go for cosmetic surgery.

And the Dawn Wayang site, there was a FAQ section and one of the question goes something like this, Why are you doing this site? If i remember vaguely, they said that they were just exposing Dawn Yang.

Why would anyone wish to expose Dawn Yang? That will only happen that if someone loathe someone terribly. Like someone did an unforgivable mistake. Like your brother sleeping with your wife.

So I’ve concluded that the owner of Dawn Wayang evidently hates Dawn Yang a lot. And this person is also doing a favor by bringing a lot more attention onto Dawn Yang.

What’s their motive for trying to expose and defame Dawn Yang? Let’s start speculating!

What’s wrong with cosmetic surgery. It doesn’t necessarily means that you have to be in the operating room. Chemical Peel is consider as a cosmetic surgery. It’s the clearing up the face for acne problems. If you’re a Dawn Yang hater, don’t you dare try those cosmetic surgery procedures! When your face is horridly scared with acne. We’re in the 21st century. What happened to being open minded?

The point is whether someone did went for cosmetic surgery or not, WHO CARES? I am going for cosmetic surgery once I get the money and after I find a job during my school holidays.

A friend of mine told me that he personally doesn’t like Dawn Yang because he heard the rumors that Dawn Yang went under the knife. He said that she’s rich and stuff and able to afford it unlike everyone else. I think. But that reason alone doesn’t justify why he hates Dawn Yang. It doesn’t make sense to me.

When someone has the money for cosmetic surgery, why not do it? Even if you don’t you can always save up money and go for it.

Dawn Yang speaks with an american accent. SO WHAT. It’s kinda normal that we Asians always try to pretend to be whites.

I tried to dye hair blonde and unsuccessful and I WILL be dying my hair to  Dark Blonde soon. I wore green/blue contact lens. I do admit in my About page that I am a Eurasian Wanna Be. Though, my motive is not that I’m ashamed to be Asian, I want to be different from my fellow classmates!

if my judgements are correct, Dawn Yang is heading in the same direction as well, She does wear green contact lens, speaks with an american accent and so on. So the main question is so what if Dawn Yang does that and tries to be like a ‘white’ person.

Dawn Yang is gorgeous in certain camera angles but at times the camera does capture some unglam moment. Like who doesn’t have those unglam moment? People expect her to be 100% glam all the time because the rumors state that she went for cosmetic surgery.

I simply don’t understand those Dawn Yang haters. They’re immature. You there, should grow up care about your own life and stop hating Dawn Yang.

Excerpt

No. We are against her because we are indignant for what she has because we think she doesn’t deserve it. But who are we to say that someone does not deserve whatever good fortune (or in this case bad fortune) they may have.

Isn’t this all about jealousy. If you are jealous, stop hating, it won’t do any good. Take control of your own life and be happy.

Singlish

27/08/2008

I’ll admit that i am responsible for writing this however, you are responsible for reading it and taking it personally. If you’re an avid fan of Singlish please i beg you, STEP OFF.

I’m not saying that my English is down right spectacular. Some things really annoy the heck out of me.

One example will be Singlish.

Honestly, WHAT THE FUCK is Singlish? Singaporean’s version of english.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING WITH ME?

Are we dimwitted to the extent that we have to create a new so called unofficial language to suit our needs? Sure, some people might say, Singlish is something unique and something that sets Singaporeans apart from other english speakers.

I find it a disgrace because we’re just disgracing ourselves. Doesn’t it show how incompetent we are and how incapable we are of learning the proper English and using it.

I’ll admit that at times i do use Singlish because I’m lazy to actually say stuff in proper sentence with the subject and verb agreement thing.

An excerpt taken from Wikipedia regarding Singlish.

The Singaporean government currently discourages the use of Singlish in favour of Singapore Standard English as it believes in the need for Singaporeans to be able to effectively communicate with the other English users in the world. The government runs the Speak Good English Movement to emphasize the point.

Even the government discourages it and is trying to do some damage control by setting up this Speak Good English Movement.

No, foreigners do no view Singlish as something unique churned out with creativity. Look what BBC said, but firstly some background information.

Excerpt from Wikipedia

The British Broadcasting Corporation, which is usually known more simply as the BBC, is the world’s largest broadcasting corporation.

Excerpt from BBC Site

Despairing at what it sees as Singaporeans’ falling standards in English, the government of the high-tech city-state has launched a national campaign to eradicate Singlish – Singapore’s own unique take on the English language.

But now the Singaporean government says Singlish has become so widespread that it is in danger of undermining the country’s competitiveness in the world economy.

Announcing the clampdown Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said English was the essential language of commerce, science and technology, while Singlish was incomprehensible to outsiders.

They use the word ‘falling’. Honestly what do you think they are trying depict? In my opinion, the word falling doesn’t seem so nice. Are they encouraging Singlish? Are they awed by the creation of Singlish?

“Incomprehensible to outsiders.” Indeed very true.

For an instance,

As you know Singaporeans became psychopathic over MapleStory. Since it made its debut you could hear the nonstop bickering of MapleStory here there and everywhere!

Debut means a person’s first appearance or performance in a particular capacity or role. And apparently i use it wrongly to describe it on MapleStory, I know and I don’t care because i like that word. Okay this is becoming a rather contradicting post because I’m annoyed at people who aren’t using proper English and I’m not using it myself.

Anyways, the private server pop out and everyone came to flood it. Guess who are the main players? Singaporeans. In the entire server, you’ll see players spamming Super Mega that contain Lah, Leh, Loh, Luh and Lih. I might be a tad exaggerating. The admins of that MapleStory private server were cursing that Singaporeans are incapable of using proper English, they are from Australia.

I shall not name anyone because my real intention of this post was just to vent out my thoughts and annoyance and not personally attacking anyone. MSN also known as Apple Windows Live Messenger, an instant messaging platform. At times when I chat with my fellow friends, I can’t understand them. No kidding.

So let’s pull up our socks and use proper English!

If you’re stubborn and still read the post even though i warned you at the top, please don’t get offended because my main intention of writing this isn’t to offend you, it’s to be aware of it and to vent out my annoyance.

Before i end, though you can’t take my account to credibility because i use one article to judge the entire foreigner’s population opinion on Singlish.

Wow! No shit! This entire post contains 695 words!

I need another five more!

P.S

LOL I GOT A RANDOM CALL.
The other person said to me
“Hello, ni chiang hua qi mah?”

My chinese spelling might be wrong but it goes something like that. It means that “Hello, Do you speak chinese?”.

And i said no i don’t speak chinese. But i don’t speak chinese and i understand her. That kinda amuses it. Shouldn’t the other person be like, wait he doesn’t speak chinese but he understand what i said?

iPhone, can i touch you?

26/08/2008

There was a period back then when SingTel allowed reservations for the upcoming iPhone. Of course i sprang out of my bed and turn on my macbook!

After the much long wait and anticipation, it comes out.

Without me buying it.

Dumb.

The 8GB iPhone cost $348 2 year contract with a monthly payment of $56. If i trade in my Nokia N82, i’ll get $300. But the thing is that my parents hate the plan. They don’t mind sponsoring another $48 for the phone. They’re waiting till christmas and see if the price has gone down.

And sure by that time i’ll be SO FAR BACK. Since everyone got their iPhone months before me. Though i’ve no idea if N82 is way better than iPhone as it has the 5 Megapixel camera.

Someone said though, a good photographer doesn’t necessarily have the best camera equipment.

I need a Sony camera too. And i lost my watch because i put it under the table during the CMaths exam and i forgot to take it.

Labeling people

22/08/2008

Labels labels labels.

They practically exist everywhere.

Labeling on people is bad. Why? These labels are not the sum total of who that particular person is, because no label can ever fully define another human being.

An example.

A kid who has been labeled emo. She no longer is able to be like everyone else because the society label her as ‘emo’ therefore she has this restrictions. Perhaps she likes cheerleading but she can’t do it because she’s an emo.

And we have fudging dumb fudge stereotypical people. Personally, i HATE stereotypical people who goes like “Ohh i hate emos”. What the fudge is wrong with their brain. Can’t they think more liberal.

Labels force us to see things in a certain way. It doesn’t allow us to explore and find our true self. Once you adopt a label, you’ll start to believe it and you’ll only see stuff that you believe it. You will not see things that contradict it.

Someone agree with me.

Five ways to be happier right now

21/08/2008

A list of 5 things that will make you a happier individual.

The first is a little bit cliche but important and it’s the realization that happiness comes from inside yourself and not the things around you. For example you can’t find happiness in a pair of jeans, a glass of vodka or in a boyfriend or girlfriend as many people might try to. As happiness or being happier or i should say have a lot to do with what you choose to process the world. So it’s really comes down to your perspective in a lot of cases. So that’s number one.

Number two, is realize that happiness isn’t a lack of desires and it’s not what occurs when all of your needs are met. I think that people tend to be happier when they’re working towards their goal that bring meaning and pleasure and purpose into their life and not necessarily satisfying those goals. A perfect example would be an athlete that is working towards a 6 minute mile and once they achieve the 6 minute mile, it’s like have they achieve happiness? Well no, so it’s not about your wants getting satisfied. Important to keep in mind.

Number three, happiness isn’t a destination it’s a process. This one i think it’s very important. You can’t arrive at happiness it’s not like today i arrived at happiness and i can’t be any happier then i am today. It is the continuing which we work through and we can work towards becoming happier or making choices that makes us happier in our life. That is a good thing but your goal can’t really be happiness it should be, be  happier.

Number four is we tend to be happier when we do things that bring a combination of pleasure and purpose in our lives. And the pleasure is something that makes us happy now and the purpose is stuff that provide future benefits. While going shopping will make us happy now, it doesn’t bring purpose to our life. Some might argue it does but let’s be real. Like wise, saving up a lot of money will bring you future benefits, it does not bring pleasure at this moment. If we can find things that brings us both pleasure and meaning those are the things the tend to make us happier.

And the number 5 would be realizing that your so-called mistakes were learning experiences and that were all indispensable in bringing you into this moment and of course which exactly where you need to be and i think that when we remind ourselves of that, we can move into the direction of letting go some of the hatred or anger or regret that we might have because if we hold on to hatred and anger, hatred and anger, you’re gonna invite more hatred and anger into your life and that’s what you have to give to other people. So the sooner we make the decision to let of hatred and anger, the sooner we can invite more love and peace into our lives. And you could make the decisions right now, yes you could. It’s not that I’m waiting for you to make it but it might be nice.
